Cozirom terms of service (draft)
Effective date: the day payments open (we aren't taking payments during the current test period)
Operator: 전요한, contact: bouz3337@gmail.com, support: https://discord.gg/Q5yyQab9AM
1. What the service is
Cozirom is a Discord bot that translates chat into the other person's language. For people who turn auto-translation on themselves, it deletes their original message and reposts the translation in the same channel under their name and picture (through a Discord webhook). Some translations, such as right-click translation, are shown only to you.
Translation is done through the API of an AI model provider (Anthropic). What we send and how long it is kept is in the privacy policy.
AI translation can be wrong. For anything important, check the original with the 🔎 button on the translated message.
Cozirom is not made or endorsed by Discord.
2. Who can use it
- Any Discord user who follows Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you're not old enough to use Discord, you can't use Cozirom.
- A minor needs a legal guardian's consent to buy a paid plan. If a minor paid without that consent, the minor or the guardian can cancel the contract as the law allows.
3. Plans and subscriptions
- There is a Free plan and there are paid plans. Each plan's monthly translations, features and price are as shown on the plans page.
- Paid plans are monthly subscriptions that renew on the same date every month until you cancel.
- Before you pay, we show the plan, the amount, the billing period, that it renews automatically, and how to cancel and get a refund, and we ask you to agree to these terms and the refund policy. Outside Korea, prices exclude tax, and the tax for your country is shown before you confirm the payment. We don't add any other fees or pre-select a paid option.
- After you pay, we email you the contract details (plan, amount, billing period, next billing date, how to cancel and get a refund).
4. Payment
How you pay depends on your billing country.
- Korea: you pay in KRW through a Korean payment processor. The operator is the seller, and prices include VAT.
- Outside Korea: you pay in USD through Paddle. Prices exclude tax; you see the final price, including tax, at checkout. Paddle doesn't accept Korean billing addresses.
For purchases outside Korea: Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
The bot never sends payment links. Payments and plan changes happen only on the plans page of our website. Don't click payment links you get in a DM.
5. Price changes
- Before we raise the price of a plan you subscribe to, or turn something free into a paid subscription, we tell you at least 30 days ahead and ask for your consent. We also tell you how to decline and how to cancel. If you don't agree, we either keep your current price or let you cancel without penalty.
- The same applies if we reduce the translations or remove features of a paid plan you subscribe to.
6. Cancelling
- You can cancel a paid subscription at any time, and cancelling is as easy as signing up: use the "Manage plan" screen in the bot or the plans page on our website. You don't need to contact support.
- After you cancel, you won't be charged again. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for, then move to the Free plan.
- Removing the bot from a server or turning auto-translation off does not cancel a subscription.
- Getting money back for a period you already paid for is covered in section 7.
7. Refunds
Your right to withdraw is limited for the part you have already used, and you can try the Free plan first.
The rules and how to ask are in the refund policy. In short:
- Within 7 days of your first payment: full refund, however much you used
- You cancel within 7 days of a monthly renewal: refund of the unused part of that period
- An outage, or the service wasn't as described: refund, with no time limit
These terms and the refund policy don't limit your consumer rights under the law, including the right of withdrawal under Korean law.
8. Free plan and tone trial
- The Free plan needs no payment, and we don't ask for payment details.
- The Free plan includes a trial period, starting from your first translation, in which you can use every tone. The plans page shows how long it is. When it ends, the Free plan goes back to its default tone.
- The Free plan and the trial never turn into a paid plan automatically. A paid plan starts only when you pay for it yourself.
- If we change the Free plan's translations or features, we announce it in advance in the support server's announcements channel.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use Cozirom for:
- content that breaks the law or infringes other people's rights (copyright, privacy, reputation and so on)
- harassment, threats, hate speech, scams or spam
- getting around limits or rate limits with automation or multiple accounts, or calling the bot in bulk
- disrupting the bot or trying to break its security
Sexually explicit content is not translated, under the translation model's usage policy. If the model declines, the original is left as is and nothing is counted. Translation is off in age-restricted channels. The one exception is the chat of age-restricted voice channels where voice-channel reading can be used: it is auto-translated so it can be read aloud. Voice-channel reading comes with paid plans, and checkout confirms that you're 19 or older.
You own your messages and are responsible for them. By turning translation on, you agree that we process your messages as far as needed to provide the service (translating, reposting, showing the original).
If you break these rules, we may restrict your use (section 12).
10. Changes and outages
- The service runs on Discord and Anthropic, so it can stop or change because of them. When we can, we announce maintenance and major changes in the support server in advance.
- If translation has to pause because costs suddenly spike, Free plan users are paused first.
- If an outage keeps you from translating while you're on a paid plan, you get a refund under the refund policy.
- If we shut the service down, we tell you at least 30 days ahead and refund the unused part of your paid period.
11. Liability
We provide the service with care, and we compensate you under the law for damage caused by our intent or negligence. We never limit or exclude liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
If we are not at fault, we are not liable for damage caused by:
- natural disasters, or outages of services we don't control, such as Discord or Anthropic
- your own settings, server permissions, or breaking the rules in section 9
- disputes between users
AI translation can get the meaning wrong or leave things out. For important matters such as contracts, health, legal or safety issues, check the original instead of relying on the translation alone.
This section doesn't limit your rights under consumer protection laws. If any part of these terms is invalid under the law, the rest still applies.
12. Suspension and ending the contract
- You can stop at any time: turn auto-translation off or remove the bot, and delete your stored data with
/translate delete-my-data. Cancel a paid subscription separately, as described in section 6. - If you seriously or repeatedly break the rules in section 9, we may restrict your use or end the contract. Unless it's urgent, we first tell you why and give you a chance to explain.
- Even then, the unused part of your paid period is settled under the applicable law and Korea's consumer dispute resolution standards.
13. Governing law and disputes
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
- If something goes wrong, contact support first. We reply as soon as we can.
- Consumers can also apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency, the Electronic Document and Transaction Dispute Mediation Committee or a similar body.
- Lawsuits go to the court that has jurisdiction under the applicable law, such as Korea's Civil Procedure Act.
- If you live outside Korea, you keep the consumer rights the law of your country gives you.
14. Changes to these terms
- We announce changes and their effective date on our website and in the support server at least 7 days ahead, or 30 days ahead if a change is unfavorable to you. We also email paid subscribers about unfavorable changes.
- Price increases and moves from free to paid follow the consent process in section 5.
- If you don't agree with the new terms, you can cancel before they take effect.
